A step-by-step guide to creating KPIs for a work package, so the impact you want to track is reflected in the numbers from day one.
Who can create KPIs
Only Work Package Leads, Project Leads and Consultants can create KPIs.
Where to create KPIs
A work package has two tabs: the one pager, which is selected when you open the work package, and the KPI collection, which shows all KPIs of the work package. You can create a KPI from either tab.
Click Create KPI and choose how you want to start:
From scratch: the full wizard with every option available
Using a template: a pre-configured starting point you can adapt
Upload image: a static image, useful when the chart already exists outside elyvate
Create from scratch: the wizard
Name your KPI, then the wizard takes you through four steps:
Step 1, Chart type: pick the visualization that fits what you're tracking (see KPI types explained)
Step 2, Series and data type: define your series and add or remove them as needed. A series is simply an item you're tracking: one series for a single metric, several series when you want to compare multiple items in the same chart
Step 3, Populate: upload your data via Excel or add the values manually right here
Step 4, Customize: fine-tune how your KPI looks
A live preview updates as you configure, so you always see exactly what your KPI will look like.
Using a template
Templates give you a pre-configured KPI to adapt: browse or search the template library, select one, name your KPI and continue with the setup pre-filled. You can also save any KPI you've built as a template to reuse later.
After creating
Your KPI appears in the KPI collection. Star the KPIs that matter most to make them Top KPIs: they'll appear in the one pager's Top KPI section (see Favoriting KPIs).
