Create, track and manage measures

The daily measure workflow: create, track, edit and manage measures - by hand or with Antonella.

Measures are the core execution unit in elyvate - the smallest trackable item in your project. Every day, consultants create measures, update their status, and steer progress toward defined targets. This article walks you through the full workflow, from creation to completion.

Creating measures

elyvate gives you two entry points for creating measures by hand: directly inside a work package, or from the Board in the Plan section. Both lead to the same creation form - choose whichever fits your current context. And if you work with Antonella, there's a third way - she can build measures for you (see Option 3).

Option 1 - Via the work package

Open the work package where the measure should be stored. Scroll down to the measures section and click "Create measure" on the right side. A creation panel opens on the right.

At the top of the panel, you can see which project and work package the measure will be saved in. Click on the work package name to open a dropdown with all available work packages in the project - this lets you reassign the measure to a different work package before saving.

Now fill in the details:

  • Title - displayed in bold in the measure overview; keep it short and descriptive

  • Description - use "Add description" to add context, background, or additional information

  • Status - set the current state of the measure

  • Due date - define when the measure needs to be completed

  • Assignee - assign a responsible person (up to two people per measure; Guests can't be assigned)

You can also attach documents from your folders or add URL links for reference. To mark a measure as high priority, click the star icon - this turns it into a top measure, which always appears at the top of the measure list.

When you are ready, click create. If you want to create multiple measures in a row, activate "Create more" before saving - the panel stays open after each save so you can add the next measure immediately without reopening it.

Option 2 - Via the Board

Navigate to the Plan section to open the Board. Click "Create measure" and select the work package where the measure should be stored. The creation form is identical to Option 1 - fill in the details and save.

Option 3 - Let Antonella build them

If you have Antonella (available to Consultants), you don't have to type measures one by one. Antonella can create measures in a work package for you, in three ways: ask her to suggest measures for a work package or a problem, paste rough text and let her turn it into structured measures, or hand her an Excel file. You review everything before it's saved (see Antonella AI).

Tracking measures in the work package

Once created, measures appear in the work package One Pager. At a glance, you can see the total number of measures alongside a breakdown by status. This gives you and your stakeholders an immediate read on execution progress without opening individual measures.

To archive a measure, click the three dots next to it and select "Archive".

Editing and updating a measure

Click on any measure to open the Measures Drawer on the right side. Here you can update the title and description, change the assignee or due date, and add attachments or links at any time (see Measures Drawer).

Two additional features help you maintain full transparency:

  • Activities - every change to the measure is logged here automatically by default, giving you full transparency on what changed, when, and by whom. You can also add comments to document status updates, blockers, or decisions - creating a clear, time-stamped history of the measure.

  • Due date history - logged in Activities as well: see exactly who changed the due date, when, and from what to what. No more guessing why a deadline shifted.

  • Resources - attachments and links live in the Resources tab of the drawer, and measures linked to a Glidepath KPI also show a dedicated Glidepath section (see Measures Drawer)

Good to know: if your project uses the escalation flow, due date changes also count toward the measure's escalation limit (see Escalation flow).

If a measure belongs in a different work package, Project Leads and Consultants can move it without losing any data. Open the Measures Drawer, click the three dots at the top, and select "Move to other WP". Choose the target work package and confirm with "Update".

Working with measures on the Board

The Board in the Plan section gives you a consolidated view of all measures across work packages. You can move measures directly on the board by clicking and holding, then dragging to a new date in the weekly view - or to a different status column if you have switched to the status view. This makes quick updates fast and intuitive.

Project Leads and Consultants can also drag measures from one work package to another directly on the board - no need to open the Measures Drawer.

Switch to the list view inside the Board to see all measures in one consolidated list. Use the available filter and sort options to focus on what matters most: overdue items, measures by owner, by status, or by criticality.

Tips for daily use

  • Check your measures daily under "My Measures" to stay on top of personal responsibilities

  • Use the Activities field consistently - a brief status comment after each update saves time in your next status meeting

  • Set top measures early in the week so your team immediately sees where to focus

  • Use "Create more" when setting up a new work package to move quickly through bulk measure creation
