Roles overview

All six roles from broadest to narrowest - what each can do, how they're assigned, and role limits.

Every person in elyvate has a role, and the role decides what they can see and do. Six roles cover everyone. Here they are, broadest to narrowest.

Consultant

Consultants can see and do everything within their project. Their access is granted automatically based on their company: a Consultant is part of every work package in the project from day one, without being invited one by one. Consultants also get Antonella, elyvate's AI agent (see Antonella AI).

Project Lead

Project Leads can see and do everything within their assigned project, and they own the project's setup: details, settings, members and reporting. Unlike Consultants, a Project Lead is assigned individually, typically one per company.

Work Package Lead

Work Package Leads run their work packages. Within an assigned work package they can do everything: measures, targets, KPIs, weekly progress, the traffic light and the work package's members. SteerCo access comes with the role: Work Package Leads and above see the SteerCo tab directly.

Contributor

Contributors are the hands-on role: they do the day-to-day work inside their assigned work packages. They create measures, assign them, move them across the board, and keep existing KPIs up to date.

The surrounding structure stays with the leads: Contributors don't create KPIs or targets, don't write the weekly progress, and don't manage work package details, members or company details.

Guest

Guests see the working level of the work packages they're invited to and can comment on measures, but can't create or edit content - and the SteerCo tab is not visible to them. Made for stakeholders who need to stay informed without editing.

Upper Management

Upper Management sees previously generated report data only: the polished picture of the project, not the day-to-day working level.

How roles are assigned

  • Work Package Lead, Contributor and Guest are chosen per work package when someone is invited (see How to invite team members)

  • Project Lead and Upper Management are assigned at project level by name

  • Consultant access is automatic, based on the company

Roles aren't fixed forever: leads can change a member's role later from the Members tabs. And one person can hold different roles in different work packages: a Work Package Lead in one can be a Contributor in another.

How many people can hold each role

  • Project Lead is an individual seat, typically one per company on a project

  • Work Package Lead is one per company per work package - with three companies in the project, a work package can have up to three leads, one from each company

  • Measures take up to two assignees, and Guests can't be assigned
